Texel

Texel, an island of North Holland at the entrance of the Zuyder Zee, is separated from the southern mainland by the Marsdiep. It contains 35,000 acres of pasture and arable land, and is celebrated for its wool and cheese. Naval actions have been fought here by Blake, Van Tromp, De Ruyter, Duncan, and others.
