Spongilla

Spongilla the common freshwater Sponge It may be found attached to stones and wood in either stagnant or running water. There is one English species, Spongilla lacustris, while a closely allied form, Meyenia fluviatilis, lives in streams. 1he latter grows in dense masses. while the true Spongilla is erect and plant-like. When it grows well exposed to light it is of a green colour.
