Hardy Sir Thomas Dupfus

Hardy, Sir Thomas Dupfus (1804-78), palaeographer and antiquarian, was born in Jamaica. He entered the Record Office in the Tower of London in 1819, and in 1861 became deputy keeper. He edited Close Rolls (1833), Patent Rolls (1835), The Chronicle of William of Malmesbury (1840). and Modus tenendi Parliamenti (1846), an important contribution to constitutional history, and published a valuable Catalogue of MSS. (1858).
