Guainares

Guainares, an Indian nation of Venezuela.whose territory lies in the Upper Orinoco basin about the sources of the Matacuni and Padamo rivers flowing to the right bank of the main stream. Like their Guaharibo neighbours and several other tribes of this region, they are noted for their light complexion, hence grouped by the missionaries amongst the Indios blancos, or "White Indians," But the colour is not white, but rather a light yellowish olive, such as is prevalent amongst the southern inhabitants of Spain and Italy.
