Bendemann

Bendemann, Edouard, painter, was born in 1811 at Berlin. At the early age of twenty-one he exhibited his celebrated picture The Captive Jews in the German capital, and at twenty-six he won the gold medal at Paris. A year afterwards, 1838, he received the post of art professorship in the Dresden Academy, and in 1858 the dictatorship of Dusseldorf Academy.
