Beancaire

Beancaire (derived from Helium Quadrum, the beautiful square), is a French commercial town on the Rhone, and in the department of Gard; a magnificent suspension bridge of four spans and 1,456 feet long connects it with Tarascon, which is on the opposite (the left) bank of the river. Beaucaire is chiefly celebrated for its great fair (July 21-28), which dates from the year 1217. To it come merchants from all parts of Europe, and even from parts of Asia.
