Turritellidae

Turritellidae, a family of Gastropoda (q.v.) or univalve mollusca of which several species are common on the English coasts. The shell is a long coiled spire, and the mouth is rounded and unnotched. The family dates from the Trias, but is most characteristic of the Tertiary period.
