Scorzonera

Scorzonera, a Composite plant (Scorzonera hispanica), wild in Western and Central Europe, and cultivated during the last century or century and a half, being sometimes called Spanish Salsafy from its resemblance to Tragopogon porrifolius. [SALSAFY] Its edible root has a brown skin, whence comes the French name ecorce noire and Latin name.
