Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, the capital of the State of Utah (q.v.), and the chief seat of the sect of the Mormons (q.v.). It is situated at the S.E. of the Great Salt Lake, more than 4,000 feet above the sea-level, at the western base of the Wasatch Mountains, and has wide regular streets, with neat, spacious houses and fine public buildings.
