Ovulites

Ovulites, a genus of fossils which are minute in size; ovoid, cylindrical, or drumstick-like in shape, and which occur in the lower Cainozoic (q.v.) rocks of France and the West Indies. They were originally described as Foraminifera, but the more recent view is that they are small calcareous algas.
