Ouless, Walter, English portrait-painter, was born at St. Heliers in 1848. He came to London in 1864, and began to exhibit at the Academy in 1868. He became A.R.A. in 1877, and R.A. in 1881. He has painted many successful portraits, among them being those of Darwin and Cardinal Newman.
