Mars Anne Franchise

Mars, Anne Franchise (1779-1847), a great French actress, was the natural daughter of an actor named Monvel and an actress named Mars. She made her debut in 1792, and seven years later became a societaire of the Comedie Francaise. She played with great, success in Moliere and Marivaux, as well as in Scribe and Delavigne; and "created" Dona Sol in Hernani and the title-role in Dumas's Madame de Belleisle. She took leave of the stage in 1841, and died at Paris six years later.
