Marmot

Marmot, any individual of the genus Arctomys of the Squirrel family, with about a dozen species from North America, the mountains of Central Europe, and Central Asia, They are stoutly built, with short ears and tail, live 'in burrows, often gregariously, feed on roots and leaves, .and hibernate.
