Lewald

Lewald, Fanny (1811-89), German novelist, was born of Jewish parents at Konigsberg. In 1840 she went to live at Berlin, where fifteen years later she married Adolf Stahr. Besides many novels, Von Geschlecht zu Geschleoht, etc., she wrote books on England and Italy, and an essay on Woman's Rights (Filrund Wider die Frauen). Meine-Lebenqeschichte (1861) is an account of part of her own life.
