Lenclos

Lenclos, Ninon de (1615-1705), a celebrated French beauty, courtesan, and leader of society. The daughter of a gentleman of Touraine, she early began a life of licentiousness, and was a very general lover. As a society leader she was courted by Moliere, La Rochefoucauld, Scarron, and others, and Christina of Sweden visited her. She long preserved her beauty, and there is a story that her grandson fell in love with her.
