Karamnasa (" Destroyer of pious souls"), u. river of Hindustan, which is a tributary of the Ganges, and forms the boundary between Behar and Allahabad. Its name is derived from the belief of the Hindoos that contact with its waters nullifies the effects of former pious acts.
