Jamshidi, a large tribe in the province of Herat, Afghanistan, numerous especially in the district watered by the Khushk and its affluents. Though often grouped with the Zeidnat Hazaras, as of Mongol descent, the Jamshidis appear to be of Persian stock, as shown by their almost pure Iranian type of physiognomy. All are Mohammedans of Persian speech, and live a much more settled life than the Hazaras.
