Indium

Indium (In. 1134), a metallic element which occurs to a very small extent associated with zinc in the ores of that metal - -e.g., blende - and in which it was discovered by means of the spectroscope. It is .a white, soft, malleable metal, melting at 176° C, and possessing the specific gravity 7-4. It does not tarnish in air, and forms several series of metallic Salts, its oxide having the formula ln203.
