Helena, the largest town in Montana, is in the Prickly Pear Valley between the Roclcy. Mountains and the Missouri river. Until .lately it was only a, collection of gold-diggers' log-cabins, and was. called Last Chance Gulch. The seat of the State government, it has Government offices and several other buildings, and is an important railway centre.
