Elche, a Spanish town in the province of
Alicante, about 15 miles S.W. of the town of Alicante, and near the left bank of the Vina'.apo. The town was anciently called Allici, and there are many Roman remains. There is a fine church, a town hall, and a feudal castle, and the general appearance of the town is Moorish. It is approached by a fine bridge.
