Cryolite, a white or brownish translucent mineral, which is found in Greenland. It consists of the double fluorides of sodium and aluminium (Na3AlF6). It has a specific gravity of about 3, and is very easily fusible. It is largely employed in the manufacture of soda, alum, and aluminium, and of a white porcelain-like glass.
