Conged Elire

Conge d'Elire is a permission issued by the English Crown to a dean and chapter of the English Church to proceed to the election of a bishop. This permission is accompanied by a letter recommending the Crown's nominee, and a disregard of this recommendation subjects the electors to the penal provisions of the Statute of Praemunire.
