Christmas Cards

Christmas Cards, illuminated or otherwise painted or ornamented cards which are exchanged between friends as tokens of remembrance or goodwill. The practice, said to have been introduced in 1846, has of late been greatly increased, and now forms a considerable tax upon the exertions of the postal department, as well as bringing a considerable sum to the revenue.
