Bromegrass

Brome-grass, Bromus, a genus of grasses comprising about 140 species, mostly natives of temperate regions. Eight are natives of Britain. They have generally their spikelets in loose panicles, compressed and furnished with a long awn. The annual soft brome (B. mollis) is common in meadows, and the Australian Prairie-grass (B. schraderi) is a quick-growing forage plant.
