Banyai

Banyai, one of the aboriginal races of Matabililand, South Central Africa, now largely reduced, absorbed or driven north to the Zambesi by the Ama-Ntabele (Matabili) intruders from Zululand. They are now chiefly confined to the right bank of the Zambesi above the Kafukwa confluence. The Banyai are physically a very fine race, tall, well-proportioned, and of remarkably light brown complexion; speech, a Bantu dialect akin to the Chinyanja of Nyassaland.
