Aulis

Aulis, a port in Boeotia, Greece, nearly opposite Chalcis in Euboea. It was here the fleet assembled before sailing to the siege of Troy, and that Iphigeneia was sacrificed by her father to procure a favourable wind, the event being commemorated in the Iphigeneia in Aulis of Euripides.
