Saint Paul: From the Chapel of St. Paul, a log chapel erected here by Roman Catholics. Prior to the adoption of St. Paul, it was known as Pig's Eye, from the nickname applied to a corpulent "one-eyed" Frenchman who located a "saloonshanty" at this point. Indian name, imnijaska, "white rock," a reference to the sandstone bluff on which the city stands.
