Roumania: A modern state on the Lower Danube, comprising the former Turkish principalities of Wallachia and Moldavia. The kingdom was so named because the people, who speak a Neo-Latin dialect derived from the colonists settled by Trajan in Dacia, designate themselves as Rumeni or Romani (Romans).
