Chateau Thierry: An historic town in France, situated on the Marne, 59 miles northeast of Paris. It takes its name from the ruins on nearby heights of a castle said to have been founded about 720 by Charles Martel in honor of Thierry IV. Its strategic position has exposed it to a long series of disasters in war.
