Meaning of Place Name: Champs-Elysees
Champs-Elysees: An avenue, and the gardens surrounding it, in Paris, extending from the Place de la Concorde one and one-fourth miles to the Place de l'Etoile, celebrated as a place of public resort. It was acquired by the crown in 1616, and ceded to the city in 1828.
