Index | Iphigenia

Iphigenia. A daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, and sister to Orestes. Iphigenia was to have been sacrificed on entering upon the expedition against Troy; but was rescued by Diana, who carried her to Tauris, where she became a priestess in her temple. She was afterwards recognized by her brother, Orestes, and enabled to save him with his friend, Pylades.
