Index | Hesperides

Hesperides. The Hesperides are called daughters of Night, because their origin and existence are veiled in darkness. Their names were Aegle, Erytheia, and Arethusa; - and they were appointed to guard the golden apples, which were the gift of Earth to Juno on her wedding day. The celebrated gardens of the Hesperides abounded with fruits and were carefully guarded by a dragon, which never slept.
