Heraclidae. Name given to the descendants of Hercules, who, in conjunction with the Dorians, conquered the Peloponnesus eighty years after the destruction of Troy, or B.C. 1104, according to mythical chronology. This legend represents the conquest of the Achaean population by Dorian invaders, who henceforward appear as the ruling race in the Peloponnesus.
