XX. Denunciations

Matthew 18:7 - Woe to the world because of temptations! for it must be that temptations come; but woe to that man by whom the temptation comes!

Luke 6:24 - But woe to you who are rich! for you have received your comfort.

Luke 6:25 - Woe to you who are full! for you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now! for you shall mourn and weep.

Luke 6:26 - Woe to you, when all men speak well of you! for so their fathers did to the false prophets.

Matthew 16:4 - A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall be no sign given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.

Mark 8:12 - And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and said, Why does this generation seek after a sign? truly I say to you, There shall be no sign given to this generation.

Luke 11:29 - And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: it seeks a sign; and no sign shall be given it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet.

Matthew 13:13 - Therefore, I speak to them in parables: because seeing they see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Matthew 13:14 - And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, who says, You shall continue to hear, but not understand; and you shall continue to see, but not perceive:

Matthew 13:15 - For this people's heart has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Matthew 10:14 - And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.

Matthew 10:15 - Truly I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Mark 6:11 - And whoever will not receive you, or hear you, when you depart from there, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.

Luke 9:5 - And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that town, shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.

Luke 10:10 - But into whatever town you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say,

Luke 10:11 - Even the very dust of your town, which clings to us, we wipe off against you: nevertheless, be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you.

Luke 10:12 - I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that town.

Matthew 12:41 - The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, one greater than Jonah is here.

Matthew 12:42 - The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the remotest parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, one greater than Solomon is here.

Luke 11:32 - The men of Nineveh shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, one greater than Jonah is here.

Matthew 11:21 - Woe to you, Chorazin! woe to you, Bethsaida! for if the miracles which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

Luke 10:13 - Woe to you, Chorazin! woe to you, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

Matthew 11:22 - But I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

Luke 10:14 - But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.

Matthew 11:23 - And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? you shall be brought down to Hades: for if the miracles which have been done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

Matthew 11:24 - But I say to you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.

Luke 10:15 - And you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven; you shall be thrust down to Hades.

Matthew 23:13 - But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for you do not go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

Matthew 23:14 - [Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: therefore you shall receive the greater condemnation.]

Matthew 23:15 - Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you cross sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.

Luke 11:46 - And he said, Woe to you also, lawyers! for you load men with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.

Luke 11:52 - Woe to you, lawyers! for you have taken away the key of knowledge: you did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.

Matthew 23:25 - Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.

Luke 11:42 - But woe to you, Pharisees! for you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, but neglect justice and the love of God: these you ought to have done, and not left the others undone.

Matthew 23:27 - Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like whitewashed tombs, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but within are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

Luke 11:44 - Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like unmarked graves, which men walk over unaware.

Matthew 23:29 - Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you build the tombs of the prophets, and adorn the sepulchres of the righteous,

Luke 11:47 - Woe to you! for you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

Matthew 12:34 - You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Matthew 23:33 - You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape being condemned to hell?

Matthew 23:34 - Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:

Luke 11:49 - For this reason also the wisdom of God said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall kill and persecute,

Matthew 23:35 - That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar.

Luke 11:50 - That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

Luke 11:51 - From the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the temple: truly I say to you, It shall be required of this generation.

Matthew 23:36 - Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

Matthew 21:19 - And when he saw a fig tree by the way, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves, and he said to it, Let no fruit grow on you ever again. And at once the fig tree withered away.

Mark 11:14 - And Jesus said to it, May no man ever eat fruit from you again. And his disciples heard it.
