XVI. Subjection of the Flesh

Matthew 18:8 - Therefore, if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off, and cast it from you: it is better for you to enter into life maimed or crippled, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into eternal fire.

Matthew 5:29 - And if your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out, and cast it from you: for it is better for you that one of your members should perish, than that your whole body should be cast into hell.

Matthew 18:9 - And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out, and cast it from you: it is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the fire of hell.

Matthew 5:30 - And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off, and cast it from you: for it is better for you that one of your members should perish, than that your whole body should be cast into hell.

Mark 9:43 - And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off: it is better for you to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched:

Mark 9:44 - [Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.]

Mark 9:45 - And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off: it is better for you to enter life lame, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched:

Mark 9:46 - [Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.]

Mark 9:47 - And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out: it is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell:

Mark 9:48 - Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.

Mark 9:49 - For everyone shall be salted with fire.

Matthew 17:21 - [Yet this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.]

Mark 9:29 - And he said to them, This kind can come out by nothing but prayer.

Matthew 6:16 - Moreover, when you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Truly I say to you, They have received their reward.

Matthew 6:17 - But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face;

Matthew 6:18 - That you may not be seen fasting by men, but by your Father who is in secret: and your Father, who sees in secret, shall reward you.
