XIV. Purity and Singleness of Heart

Matthew 5:8 - Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Matthew 12:35 - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of his evil treasure brings forth evil things.

Luke 6:45 - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for from the overflow of the heart his mouth speaks.

Mark 10:15 - Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall not enter it at all.

Luke 18:17 - Truly I say to you, Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall by no means enter it.

Matthew 15:10 - And he called the multitude, and said to them, Hear, and understand:

Matthew 15:11 - Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.

Matthew 15:16 - And Jesus said, Are you also still without understanding?

Matthew 15:17 - Do you not yet understand, that whatever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is eliminated?

Matthew 15:18 - But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

Matthew 15:19 - For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immorality, thefts, false witness, slanders:

Matthew 15:20 - These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.

Mark 7:14 - And when he had called all the people to him, he said to them, Listen to me, every one of you, and understand:

Mark 7:15 - There is nothing from outside of a man that can defile him by entering into him: but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile the man.

Mark 7:18 - And he said to them, Are you also without understanding? Do you not perceive, that whatever enters into the man from without, it cannot defile him;

Mark 7:19 - Because it does not enter into his heart, but into the belly, and is eliminated? Thus he declared all foods clean.

Mark 7:20 - And he said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man.

Mark 7:21 - For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,

Mark 7:22 - Covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lustfulness, envy, slander, pride, foolishness:

Mark 7:23 - All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Matthew 5:27 - You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery:

Matthew 5:28 - But I say to you, That whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Matthew 9:4 - And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, Why do you think evil in your hearts?

Matthew 6:22 - The light of the body is the eye: therefore, if your eye is sound, your whole body shall be full of light.

Matthew 6:23 - But if your eye is bad, your whole body shall be full of darkness. Therefore, if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

Matthew 6:24 - No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Luke 11:34 - The light of the body is the eye: therefore when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light; but when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness.

Luke 11:35 - Take heed, then, that the light which is within you is not darkness.

Luke 11:36 - Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, having no dark part in it, it shall be fully illuminated, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.

Matthew 12:34 - You brood of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

Matthew 4:7 - Jesus said to him, Again it is written, You shall not tempt the Lord your God.

Luke 4:12 - And Jesus answered and said to him, It is said, You shall not tempt the Lord your God.

Luke 16:13 - No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

Luke 11:41 - But rather give what you have within as alms; and, behold, all things are clean for you.
