XIII. The Rich

Matthew 19:23 - Then Jesus said to his disciples, Truly I say to you, It is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 19:24 - And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Mark 10:23 - And Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!

Mark 10:24 - And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answered again, and said to them, Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!

Mark 10:25 - It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Luke 18:24 - And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!

Luke 18:25 - It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Luke 6:24 - But woe to you who are rich! for you have received your comfort.

Luke 14:12 - Then he said to his host, When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers, your kinsmen, or your rich neighbours; lest they invite you in return, and you are repaid.

Luke 16:19 - There was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and feasted sumptuously every day:

Luke 16:20 - And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, covered with sores,

Luke 16:21 - And he longed to eat the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

Luke 16:22 - And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

Luke 16:23 - And in Hades he lift up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Luke 16:24 - And he cried out, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Luke 16:25 - But Abraham said, Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and Lazarus received evil things: but now he is comforted, and you are tormented.

Luke 16:26 - And beside all this, between us and you a great gulf has been fixed: so that those who would pass from here to you cannot; nor can any pass over from there to us.

Luke 16:27 - He said, Then I beg you, father, that you would send him to my father's house:

Luke 16:28 - For I have five brothers. Have him warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Luke 16:29 - Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

Luke 16:30 - And he said, No, father Abraham: but if someone went to them from the dead, they will repent.

Luke 16:31 - And he said to him, If they will not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.
