XII. The Poor

Luke 6:20 - And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed are you who are poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

Luke 4:18 - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,

Luke 4:21 - And he said to them, Today is this scripture fulfilled in your hearing.

Luke 7:22 - Then Jesus answered and said to them, Go your way, and tell John the things you have seen and heard; how the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the gospel is preached to the poor.

Matthew 11:5 - The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Matthew 19:21 - Jesus said to him, If you wish to be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Mark 10:21 - Then Jesus, beholding him, loved him, and said to him, One thing you lack: go your way, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come follow me.

Luke 18:22 - Now when Jesus heard this, he said to him, You still lack one thing: sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

Luke 14:13 - But when you have a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

Luke 14:14 - And you shall be blessed; for they cannot repay you: but you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.

Matthew 26:11 - For you always have the poor with you; but you do not always have me.

Mark 14:7 - For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good: but you will not always have me.

John 12:8 - For the poor you have with you always; but me you do not always have.
