Taylor, Robert Love. Lawyer, United States senator. Born in Happy Valley, Carter County, TN in 1850. Educated in Pennington, NJ. Admitted to Tennessee bar, 1878. Member of Congress, 1879-81. Elector at large on Cleveland ticket, 1884. Pension agent at Knoxville, 1885-87. Elected governor 1886 as Democrat, his opponent being his brother, Alfred A. Taylor. Was governor, 1887-91. Practiced law 1891-96. Presidential elector on Cleveland ticket, 1892; again governor, 1897-99; United States senator 1907-12. Was editor of Taylor-Trotwood Magazine. Died 1912.
