Olcott, "Chauncey" (Chancellor John Olcott). Singer and actor. Born in Buffalo, July 21, 1860. Educated in Buffalo common schools. Brought out as a singer by R. M. Hooley, 1880. With Hooley's Company two years, then consecutively with Haverly's Company, Carncross Minstrels, Denman Thompson, and Duff's Opera Company for several seasons. Sang two years in England in comic opera, then succeeded W. J. Scanlan as star in Irish musical dramas. Later appeared in various leading roles in United States and England.
