Marie de' Medici. Born in 1573. Queen of France, daughter of Francis of Tuscany. Married Henri IV in 1600. Became mother of Louis XIII, during whose minority she was regent, but was overthrown by Richelieu after a long contest, and left France in 1631. Died 1642.
