Hosmer, Harriet. American sculptor. Born in Watertown, MA, 1830. Was a pupil of Gibson at Rome, and executed busts of "Daphne," "Aenone," "Beatrice Cenci," and "Zenobia in Chains." She devised a method for converting Italian limestone into marble. Died 1908.
