Field, David Dudley. Born in 1805. American jurist and brother of Cyrus Field and Stephen Field. In 1856 he was appointed to draw up a political, civil, and penal code, of which parts have been adopted by several of the states. To him is due the formation of an association for the reform of the law of nations, and for the adoption of arbitration in place of war. Died 1894.
