Day, James Roscoe. Clergyman, educator. Born in Whitneyville, ME, October 17, 1845. Bowdoin, 1874, A. B.; Wesleyan, CT, and Dickinson College, D. D.; Northwestern University, LL. D.; Cornell College, IA, D. C. L. Methodist Episcopal clergyman in Bath, Portland, Boston, and New York. Chancellor Syracuse University, 1893-1922. Elected bishop Methodist Episcopal Church, 1904, but declined. Was a writer, speaker, and publicist. Died 1923.
