Biography of Saint Bartholomew

Bartholomew, Saint. One of the twelve apostles of Jesus. He is said to have preached the Gospel in the Indies, in Ethiopia, and elsewhere. His labors are said to have been terminated by a cruel death, by his being brutally flayed alive in Armenia. The correctness of this statement, however, has been doubted. The Church of Benevento at Rome claims to possess some of his bones among its relics.
