Alexander VIII (Pope), Pietro Ottoboni, born in 1610. Bishop of Brescia and afterwards of Frascati. He became Pope in 1689, and succeeded in reforming many abuses and reestablishing friendly relations with Franco. He placed in the Vatican the fine collections of books left him by the Queen of Sweden. Died, 1691.
